3 Apps to Book Padel Courts and Find Players While Traveling

Some links on this page earn us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. Full disclosure.

Apps to book padel courts get you part of the way to a game. They do not replace the method we rely on most, which is finding a court's WhatsApp group directly, a system we explain in full in how to find padel players anywhere you travel. But we use apps too, and they are a useful layer on top of that, especially for booking a court in the first place, or filling a single open spot in a match on short notice.

Quick answer

Playtomic has the widest coverage across countries, MATCHi is strongest in the Nordics, and Padel Mates adds matchmaking by level. Use them next to the court's WhatsApp group, not instead of it. Install Playtomic first. Checked on 5 October 2026.

This guide covers three apps worth knowing if you play padel while traveling, what each one does according to its own official site and app store listing, and where each one falls short. No made-up numbers, no star ratings, just what these tools do.

Quick summary

  • Widest general coverage across countries: Playtomic
  • Strongest in Nordic countries: MATCHi
  • Booking plus matchmaking by level, Swedish and growing internationally: Padel Mates

What to look for in a padel app

In short: Look for coverage in the countries you are traveling to, a way to find an open match, a level system, language support, and a check that the club you want actually uses the app.

Court booking coverage in the countries you are actually traveling to. An app that dominates in Spain is not automatically useful in Sweden or Indonesia. Check which app your destination's courts actually use before assuming one app will cover your whole trip.

A way to find an open match, not just book an empty court. The single most useful feature for a traveling player without a regular group is a listing of matches that already have players and are short one person. Look for this specifically, it is usually called something like "open matches" or "find a match" inside the app.

Some form of level or rating system. A level system, like the Playtomic scale covered in our guide to padel levels explained, helps you avoid a wildly mismatched game with strangers.

Language support. Not every app has full English support in every market. Check this before you land somewhere and discover the entire interface is in a language you do not read.

Whether the club you want to play at actually uses the app at all. Plenty of clubs, especially smaller or newer ones, run their own booking system, a website, or just a WhatsApp number instead of any of the big apps. It is worth checking a club's own site or Instagram before assuming they are listed in an app at all.

Size, from the apps' own homepages (5 October 2026): Playtomic quotes 5,500 partner clubs in over 52 countries, citing Forbes, with no date on the figure. MATCHi shows 1,717 active venues and 18,704 bookable courts for all racket sports, and does not give a country count. The two numbers do not measure the same thing, so use them as a rough sense of scale, not a ranking.

Playtomic

Playtomic is the app most travelers researching padel will run into first. It works primarily as a court booking marketplace, connecting you to clubs that list their courts and availability through the app, and you can also create or join matches with other players who need a fourth.

It also runs the level system covered in detail in our padel levels guide. The scale runs from 0 to 7. Your starting level comes from a short questionnaire when you set up your profile, and after that only competitive matches move it, based on the result, the levels of the other players and how established your level already is.

What it's good for: booking a court directly, and finding an existing match that needs one more player, especially useful if you do not have a regular group in a city yet.

What to know: coverage is strongest in markets with an established padel scene. In smaller or newer padel markets, do not assume every local club is listed, check directly with the club as well.

MATCHi

MATCHi describes itself as community and online booking for racket sports, covering padel alongside tennis, badminton, squash and table tennis. It has a strong presence in Sweden and other Nordic countries, where padel has grown fast in recent years, and its venue list also includes clubs elsewhere in Europe.

What it's good for: booking courts if you are traveling through or based in a Nordic country, where it tends to have stronger club coverage than apps built primarily around the Spanish market.

What to know: its footprint outside the Nordic countries is smaller, so treat it as a strong regional tool rather than a single app that covers every country you might visit.

Padel Mates

Padel Mates, from the Swedish company Padel Mates International AB, is both a booking app and a matchmaking app. According to its App Store listing, you can book and pay for courts in the app, get match suggestions based on your skill level, find games and tournaments, book trainers, chat with other players and split costs with friends. It covers padel as well as pickleball, tennis, badminton and squash.

What it's good for: if your main problem in a new city is finding people as well as a court, an app that combines booking with level-based match suggestions covers both in one place.

What to know: like every app here, its value depends on whether clubs in your destination actually use it. Check which clubs are listed in the city you are heading to before relying on it as your main tool there.

Other ways to book, beyond these apps

A fair number of clubs, especially smaller ones or clubs outside the biggest padel markets, do not use any of the apps above at all. They run their own booking website, a simple online form, or just take bookings over WhatsApp. This is exactly why the method we lay out in how to find padel players anywhere you travel, searching for courts online and messaging them, works even in places where none of these apps have real coverage. Apps are a convenience layer, not a guarantee that every court in a given city is reachable through your phone.

How to use these apps while traveling

In practice, apps are a supplement for us, not the starting point. Our first move in a new country is still searching for courts online and messaging the court's WhatsApp number to ask if we can join their group, the method covered in detail in the finding-players guide linked above. The apps come in alongside that, for booking a court or filling an open spot in a match.

Gear you'll need

An app gets you onto a court. It does not get you a racket that suits a beginner or shoes built for artificial turf. Before your next booked session, check our guides to the best padel rackets for beginners and travel and the best padel shoes for travelers.

FAQ

In short: Download Playtomic first for Europe, add MATCHi for the Nordics, expect to pay only for the court booking itself, and note that none of these apps pay us a commission.

Which padel app should I download before a trip to Europe?

Playtomic is the safest first download for broad European coverage, especially Spain. If you know you are heading specifically to a Nordic country, add MATCHi as well, since its club coverage tends to be stronger there, and check whether clubs in your city use Padel Mates.

Do these apps cost money to use?

Downloading and browsing is generally free, you pay for the actual court booking through the app when you reserve a slot. Check each app's current terms directly, since booking fees and payment handling can vary by club and by country.

What if my destination city doesn't seem to use any of these apps?

That happens more than you'd expect, especially in newer or smaller padel markets. In that case, fall back on searching for courts directly and messaging them, which is the method covered in our finding players guide.

Can I find a padel partner through these apps if I am traveling alone?

Yes, that is largely the point of the match features in apps like Playtomic and the level-based match suggestions in Padel Mates. It is a useful option alongside joining a club's WhatsApp group.

Is my level on one app the same as my level on another?

Not necessarily. Different apps and platforms run their own systems, and the numbers do not always translate directly between them. We cover this in more detail in our padel levels guide.

Do you get paid if I download or use these apps?

No. As of September 2026, none of the apps in this guide have a public affiliate program that we were able to find, so there is no commission on any of these links. They are here because they are useful, not because they pay.
