Georgia gives most passports 1 year visa-free entry. That alone made Tbilisi a digital nomad destination. The rest came from cheap rent, fast internet, and amazing wine.

The 3 nomad neighborhoods

1. Vera (the trendy hub)

Where most nomads live. Walkable to the center. Hip cafes, coworking spaces, English everywhere.

2. Sololaki (the cultural hub)

Old town with beautiful balconies and cobblestone streets. More tourists, but also more atmosphere.

3. Saburtalo (the residential hub)

Newer area, cheaper rent, more local. Better for longer stays if you do not need to be in the tourist center.

Setup before arriving

  • eSIM: Airalo Georgia pack – Magti network works best
  • Airport transfer: Tbilisi airport (TBS) is 17km from the center. GetTransfer for 30-40 USD or Bolt taxi for cheaper
  • Insurance: SafetyWing or Ekta – Russia/Caucasus region needs solid coverage
  • Day trips: Kazbegi, Kakheti wine region, Bakuriani ski. Rent via Localrent – they have the best Georgia coverage

The reality check

Russian influx in 2022-2023 changed the dynamic. Some apartments doubled in price. Politics is tense (pro-EU vs pro-Russia debate). Winters are cold and grey (Nov-Feb).

But it remains one of the best value-for-money nomad cities in Europe. Worth a 3-6 month stint at minimum.
