ENO vs Kammok: DoubleNest or Roo Double Hammock?

ENO vs Kammok is mostly a choice between room and packability. The ENO DoubleNest is wider and the cheaper of the two, while the Kammok Roo Double is lighter, softer and rated for more weight. Neither comes with straps. We read both makers' product pages and the Amazon listings on 9 October 2026, then checked what independent testers found.

Quick answer

Checked on 9 October 2026. Choose the ENO DoubleNest if you want the roomier, tried-and-true everyday hammock: it is wider, lists 400 lb and costs less. Choose the Kammok Roo Double if you carry it far or want the softest fabric: it packs smaller, weighs less and lists 500 lb. Budget camper? Wise Owl includes the straps. Buy straps for the first two.

How we compared them

The NomadsToolsLab team read ENO's DoubleNest page and Kammok's Roo Double page end to end on 9 October 2026, and checked both Amazon pages with a US address. What surprised us: when OutdoorGearLab weighed and measured both, it found the DoubleNest at 8'9" x 6'3", shorter than the 9'6" ENO lists, while the Roo Double came out at 10 ft x 5'10". The Kammok is the longer and narrower hammock, not the roomier one.

Testers at CNN Underscored put the single sizes head to head: the Kammok packed smaller and weighed less, the ENO was bigger once unfurled. They also say that both brands' standard straps are sold separately. Among long-term concerns, GearLab saw the Kammok's softer fabric show wear against tree bark. Every number in the table comes from the makers' own pages.

The weight rows are not like for like. Makers list the hammock alone, while testers weighed it with straps: GearLab measured the Roo Double at 24 oz with straps and the DoubleNest at about 31 oz with ENO's Atlas straps. That is a bigger gap than the 2 oz between the listed figures.

1. ENO DoubleNest: the roomy classic

In short: The DoubleNest is the wider hammock, and the one most people already know.

The DoubleNest is a 1 to 2 person hammock in FreeWave 70D nylon with triple-stitched seams, a stuff sack that stays attached and has an inner pocket, and hammock-grade carabiners. ENO lists it at 9'6" x 6'4", 400 lb and 19 oz, and says it is compatible with all ENO straps and stands. The Amazon listing we read is sold by NetRush, not by ENO directly.

GearLab gave it 76 out of 100 and called it the best classic everyday double: easy to set up, spacious for one or two, with durable construction. Its complaint is the fabric, which it found somewhat rigid compared with the Kammok. CNN Underscored, testing the SingleNest against the Roo Single, found the ENO more than a foot longer and more than six inches wider, with room to wrap up like a cocoon, but heavier and bulkier to pack.

2. Kammok Roo Double: the light, soft one

In short: The Roo Double is the softest and lightest, with a bigger weight rating and a lifetime guarantee.

The Roo Double uses a recycled 40D ripstop nylon, packs to 4.3 x 4.3 x 6.5 in and lists 500 lb. Kammok says it suits 1 to 2 people for lounging and recommends one person for sleeping. It comes with two climbing-grade Kanga Claw carabiners and two Dyneema slings, has eight gear loops and an attached roll-top sack, and is covered by a lifetime guarantee. The Amazon listing we read is sold by Kammok.

Testers love the feel. GearLab calls it the best everyday lounger, by far the softest hammock it tested next to skin, at 79 out of 100, and measured 16.64 oz for the hammock alone. CNN Underscored named it its best camping hammock in a test of 12, noting that ENO and Wise Owl make excellent hammocks at lower prices. The caveat is wear: GearLab saw the fabric show signs of rubbing against tree bark, though it had no durability problems in testing.

Straps: the part neither includes

In short: Budget for straps. Both makers sell their own.

Neither the DoubleNest nor the Roo Double comes with tree straps, as both makers and both testers say. ENO's standard choice is the Atlas straps, Kammok's the Python straps (Amazon lists 10 ft, 10 ft UL and 15 ft versions). Hanging is knotless on both: wrap a strap around each tree and clip the carabiners on.

Also worth a look: Wise Owl

In short: The cheap one that comes ready to hang. It appears in both GearLab's and CNN's lists.

The Wise Owl lists a 10 ft x 6.5 ft body in 210T parachute nylon, 500 lb, 26 oz, and ships with two carabiners, 9 ft straps and a stuff sack. GearLab calls the Wise Owl kit its best budget hammock, but its straps offer limited adjustment and its thin carabiners raise durability worries. CNN Underscored says Wise Owl and ENO make excellent camping hammocks at a lower price than the Kammok.

What testers found

In short: Three testers, one pattern: Kammok for comfort and packing, ENO for room and price.

CNN Underscored found the Kammok smaller and lighter, which matters if you carry it, and the ENO bigger when unfurled. Its tester is 5 ft 10 in and said the Roo Single was cozy without much spare room, while the SingleNest had space to scoot and to wrap up. The thinner Kammok stretches more when you first sit, then feels stable. CNN's verdict: it is hard to say one is better, so pick small and light or room and comfort.

GearLab tested both with straps bought separately. The Roo Double scored 79 and the DoubleNest 76: its testers found both easy to set up, the Kammok more comfortable and more versatile because of the gear loops, and the ENO a little tougher. In its separate list of best hammocks, CNN Underscored ranks the Kammok first and says ENO and Wise Owl could each have won at a lower price. Hammock tests are short, so none of them tells you how the fabric ages over years.

Which one to pick

In short: Carry it far: Kammok. Share it: ENO. Spend least: Wise Owl.

Pick the Kammok Roo Double if you will carry it, want the softest fabric and the higher weight rating, and like the gear loops. Pick the ENO DoubleNest if two of you want to sit side by side, you care about price, or you want the most widely known model. Pick the Wise Owl if you want to hang it today with no extra purchase. Sleeping in it overnight? Kammok recommends one sleeper in its double, and for cold nights you will want a pad or an underquilt.
