Ozlo vs Soundcore A30: Which Sleep Earbuds for Hostels and Flights?

Ozlo vs Soundcore A30 is a choice between masking noise and cancelling it. The Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 say on their own page that they are not active noise cancelling and weigh 1.6 g each; the Soundcore Sleep A30 adds active noise cancelling at about 3 g each. We read both makers' pages and both Amazon listings on 9 October 2026, then read what testers found, for a hostel dorm and a night flight.

Quick answer
Checked on 9 October 2026. Pick the Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 if you want the lightest pair (1.6 g each) and the longest battery (up to 14 hours by its maker) and can live without noise cancelling. Pick the Soundcore Sleep A30 if you want active noise cancelling, snore masking and the option of calls. Both were in stock on Amazon: Ozlo showed 4K+ bought in the past month, the A30 Special 2K+.

How we compared them
The NomadsToolsLab team read both makers' product pages and Soundcore's own comparison page on 9 October 2026 and checked both Amazon pages with a US address. What surprised us: Soundcore's comparison table lists Ozlo at up to 10 hours, which is the first-generation figure, while Ozlo's page lists up to 14 hours for the Sleepbuds 2.
Testers tell the rest. In a video sponsored by Ozlo, with an agreement that the review stays honest, Ty Tries Tech found that the connection problems of the first Ozlo are solved after a few weeks and that the battery now gets him through even restless nights, and that the missing noise cancelling is the one feature that may be a deal breaker. SoundGuys measured the A30's active noise cancelling and found it attenuates low-frequency noise better than passive isolation alone, but only about 7.5 hours of playtime with it on. One Bag Travels tested the A30 Special for two weeks with his wife on the road and found it blocks or masks almost all background noise but found the app menus confusing.
Our conclusion: this is not about which pair is better. It is about whether you need cancelling or masking, and how light and how long-lasting a pair you want. Every number in the table comes from the makers' own pages unless we name the tester.

1. Ozlo Sleepbuds 2

Ozlo Sleepbuds 2
The Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 are built for side sleepers. The Ozlo page lists 1.6 g per earbud, 11 x 17 x 12 mm, four sizes of soft silicone tips and an IPX4 rating. It says outright that the earbuds are not ANC: they seal the ear with the tips and layer adaptive noise-masking audio on top, which it says can reduce the impact of noise like snoring and traffic. It lists up to 14 hours per charge, from a test at 50% volume, a smart case that holds 2 to 3 more charges, Bluetooth 5.3, more than 60 sleep sounds and a private alarm that works even with Bluetooth off. There is no microphone in the earbuds, so no calls.
On 9 October 2026 the listing showed In Stock with Add to cart and Buy Now, sold by Ozlo, with 4K+ bought in the past month; the page showed no category rank.
Ty Tries Tech, who reviewed the first Ozlo before, says the Sleepbuds 2 fix two of his three biggest complaints: they now connect automatically when you open the case, and the battery went from 10 to 14 hours. He found the case button useful for starting sleep sounds or snoozing the alarm without opening the app. His downsides: only about 10 sleep sounds and 3 alarms live on the buds, and swapping them takes a minute or two with the buds in the case. Sleep tracking is now out of beta, but he says he does not think it matches a smart ring or watch.
2. Soundcore Sleep A30

Soundcore Sleep A30 (Special)
The Soundcore Sleep A30 Special adds what the Ozlo leaves out. Soundcore's page calls it "ANC Engineered for Sleep" and says it targets low-frequency sounds such as appliance hum and traffic rumble, while passive isolation handles higher-pitched noise. The charging case listens for snoring in real time and the earbuds adapt the masking sound. It lists about 3 g per earbud, IPX4, calls, sleep tracking, a 30-day money-back guarantee and USB-C charging only, with no wireless or fast charging. Its FAQ gives a maximum volume of 89 dB.
On 9 October 2026 the listing showed In Stock with Add to cart and Buy Now, shipped from Amazon and sold by AnkerDirect, with 2K+ bought in the past month; no category rank was shown.
SoundGuys, whose review is from July 2025, measured that the active noise cancelling attenuates low-frequency noise better than passive isolation alone, but with it on the A30 lasted about 7.5 hours in their test. They also found the touch controls on the earbuds finicky and said the sound is fine for a podcast, not for music. One Bag Travels found the battery lasted the night with about 40% left after roughly eight hours when playing a sound stored on the buds, and that the stored sound let the case last about a week. He had no objective way to measure how much noise it blocks, but called the effect very noticeable.
Which one to pick

You sleep on your side and want the lightest, longest-lasting pair: the Ozlo, at 1.6 g and up to 14 hours by its maker, with the case holding two to three more charges. Your dorm mate snores or the street is loud: the Soundcore A30, because it is the only one with active noise cancelling and a case that listens for snoring; Soundcore says passive isolation handles the higher-pitched noise, and we found no test in a real dorm. You want to take a call without taking the buds out: the Soundcore, since the Ozlo has no microphone in the earbuds. You want the simplest alarm: Ozlo's private in-ear alarm works without a phone connection, per its maker. You only want quiet: Ty Tries Tech says to try cheap earplugs first and save your money if they work.

From the road: choosing a hostel

Chenzo, founder of NomadsToolsLab
I almost never book ahead. You meet people and you ask. If there are nice people, you ask where they are staying and what a nice hostel is. And then you go there.
That is Chenzo's way of finding a hostel: by a tip from someone he just met, not by a listing. However you end up in a dorm, the noise comes with the bed, and a lock for your locker is the other half of the kit (see our hostel padlock guide).
- Ozlo Sleepbuds 2: 1.6 g per bud, up to 14 hours (maker test at 50% volume), not ANC, no microphone, IPX4.
- Soundcore Sleep A30: about 3 g per bud, ANC plus snore masking, calls, IPX4; 9 h (A30) or 8 to 10 h (Special) per Soundcore.
- SoundGuys measured the A30 at about 7.5 hours with ANC on and found the ANC beats passive isolation on low-frequency noise.
- Soundcore's comparison table lists Ozlo at 10 hours, the first-generation figure; Ozlo lists 14 hours for the Sleepbuds 2.
- On 9 October 2026 both were in stock on Amazon: Ozlo 4K+ bought last month, the A30 Special 2K+.

FAQ
Is Ozlo or Soundcore Sleep A30 better for a hostel?
It depends on the noise. The Soundcore Sleep A30 has active noise cancelling and a case that listens for snoring, while Ozlo's Sleepbuds 2 are not ANC and use passive isolation plus masking sounds. Soundcore says passive isolation handles higher-pitched noise, and we found no independent test inside a real dorm.
Do the Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 have noise cancelling?
No. Ozlo's own page says they are not ANC. They use the seal of the silicone tips and adaptive noise-masking audio.
How long do the Ozlo and the Soundcore A30 last?
Ozlo lists up to 14 hours per charge in a test at 50% volume. Soundcore lists 9 hours for the A30 and 8 to 10 hours for the A30 Special, and SoundGuys measured about 7.5 hours with ANC on.
Can I take calls with sleep earbuds?
The Soundcore Sleep A30 lists calls, enabled in the app. The Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 have no microphone in the earbuds, so no calls.
Are sleep earbuds worth it on a long flight?
Ty Tries Tech, a former flight attendant, uses the Ozlo for long flights because of the 14-hour battery and the fit that does not fall out. Neither maker says anything about flights, and the A30's ANC was not tested on a plane by anyone we read.
