Hollyland Lark M2 vs DJI Mic 2 is a choice between the lightest clip-on mic and the one with a backup recorder. Hollyland lists 9 g transmitters, 300 m of range and 40 hours with the camera charging case. DJI lists 28 g transmitters, 32-bit float internal recording, a touchscreen receiver and noise cancelling. We read both makers' pages and both Amazon pages on 9 October 2026.

Quick answer
Checked on 9 October 2026. Pick the Hollyland Lark M2 if you want the smallest transmitters, the longer listed battery, receivers for phone and camera in one box, and the lower price. Pick the DJI Mic 2 if you want internal 32-bit float recording as a backup, a screen and dial on the receiver, Bluetooth and a direct link to DJI cameras.

How we compared them
The NomadsToolsLab team read Hollyland's Lark M2 page and DJI's Mic 2 pages end to end on 9 October 2026, read the FCC notice behind DJI's US list, and checked both Amazon pages with a US address. What surprised us: the Mic 2 on Amazon is sold by a third-party seller, not by DJI, while Hollyland sells the Lark M2 through its own Official Store, and the best-selling DJI mic on Amazon is not the Mic 2 but the cheaper Mic Mini, with 10K+ bought in the past month against 1K+.
The team at Synced compared the two (updated January 2024) and found the audio equally good at 48 kHz and 24 bit, the Lark M2 lighter with a longer battery, and the Mic 2 the only one with internal recording, a safety track and 32-bit float. Their verdict: the Lark M2 is better value. George Cairns at Digital Camera World gave the Lark M2 combo five stars in January 2024 and wished for onboard recording and spare magnets. On YouTube, Jake Sloan bought the Lark M2, the Mic 2 and the Mic Mini with his own money in early 2025 and found the Lark M2 clean and natural, with the Mic 2 less bright on the high end, but called the Mic 2's internal recording something that "might save the day" on client work. Ben Gleason, who bought the Lark M2 himself and was sent a Mic Mini by DJI without sponsorship, found the Lark M2 and the Mic Mini nearly identical in sound. On Amazon, 14,155 ratings sit on the Lark M2 listing and 5,090 on the Mic 2.
Our reading: the sound is close, so the choice comes down to size, backup recording and which phone or camera you shoot with. Every number in the table comes from the makers' own pages and Amazon listings.

Read the table as direction. Hollyland measured in a lab and DJI measured its 6 hours with two transmitters linked and no backup recording running, so each maker's figure is its best case.
1. Hollyland Lark M2: the light one

Hollyland Lark M2 Wireless Microphone Combo (2 TX + 3 RX + Charging Case)
On Hollyland's page each transmitter weighs about 9 g, the phone receivers about 6 g and the camera receiver 14.8 g. It lists 300 m of line-of-sight range, 40 m without line of sight with the camera receiver, about 10 hours on a transmitter, and 40 hours in total with the camera-version charging case. Audio is 48 kHz and 24-bit with a signal-to-noise ratio above 70 dB, and a noise cancelling button on each transmitter that, pressed twice, can start and stop video on a phone that allows it. The Combo kit has a camera receiver, a USB-C and a Lightning receiver, the charging case, cables, windscreens and magnets.
The catches are in the same sources. Hollyland's page does not list onboard recording or a warranty, and Synced says the Lark M2 has no onboard recording. The page warns that the magnetic disk can interfere with implantable electronic devices and lists a charging temperature range of 0 to 45 degrees. Jake Sloan and Ben Gleason both call the furry windscreen in the box big.
On Amazon the Combo listing was in stock on 9 October, sold by the Hollyland Official Store, with Amazon's Choice, a rank of #5 in Musical Instruments and #1 in Instrument Microphones and Systems, and 2K+ bought in the past month. The phone-only USB-C version sells even more, with 6K+ bought, if you shoot on a phone alone.
2. DJI Mic 2: the one with a backup

DJI Mic 2 (2 TX + 1 RX + Charging Case)
On DJI's page the Mic 2 transmitter and receiver weigh 28 g each, run 6 hours per charge and drop into a 200 g charging case with a 3,250 mAh battery. The page lists 32-bit float internal recording, 14 hours of internal recording and smart noise cancelling, and a range of 250 m under FCC rules and 160 m under CE rules. DJI measured the 6 hours with two transmitters linked and no internal backup recording, so expect less with the recorder on.
Synced adds a 1.1 inch OLED touchscreen and dial on the receiver, 8 GB of internal storage, a safety track and a direct Bluetooth link. Jake Sloan likes the 1/8 inch jack, which lets him run an external lavalier, and the direct connection to a DJI Pocket 3 or Action camera. He also found its high end less bright than the Lark M2 and the Mic Mini. On Amazon it was in stock on 9 October, sold by a third-party seller (Hibikin-US), with Amazon's Choice, 5,090 ratings, 1K+ bought and a rank of #9 in Wireless Lavalier Microphones.

Sound, range and noise
Synced found the two equally good at 48 kHz and 24 bit. Jake Sloan heard the Lark M2 as clean and natural, with a little less low end than the Mic Mini, and the Mic 2 as a little less bright on the top end. Ben Gleason, comparing the Lark M2 with the Mic Mini, heard them as nearly identical. In Jake's range test all of them held up to roughly 200 to 300 feet in the open, and the real differences appeared when his body was between transmitter and camera. Ben's test showed the Lark M2 dropping out sooner than the Mic Mini when he turned around, around 50 yards away.
On noise cancelling, Hollyland gives one button and Ben heard one level that leaves a slightly underwater voice, while the Mic Mini has two levels. Jake says all three are fine in a pinch, but that noise reduction in editing software gives better results. The recording backup is where the Mic 2 stands apart: 32-bit float means a clipped take can be saved afterwards, which is why Jake recommends it for client work. If you shoot in Europe, remember that DJI's CE range is 160 m, not 250 m.

DJI and the US list
On 22 December 2025 the FCC added foreign-produced drones and drone critical components to its Covered List. Its fact sheet says the decision does not stop people using drones they already own, and does not stop retailers selling or importing models the FCC authorized earlier, because the restrictions apply to new device models. The FCC's public notice quotes the national security determination, which lists drone parts such as data transmission devices, flight controllers, navigation systems, batteries and motors. The FCC text names no company and no microphones. DJI is a foreign drone maker, so this is the update people mean when they say DJI is on a US list. The FCC has issued later notices, so check its Covered List page for the current state.
The DJI Mic 2 is a wireless microphone, not a drone. On 9 October 2026 amazon.com showed it new, in stock, with an Add to cart button for a New York address, sold by a third-party seller, and that is the only store we link to. If you live in the US and want to be sure about a DJI product, check its page before you pay. This is not legal advice.

What the listing says
- A 10 g transmitter, a 400 m range and 48 hours of battery with the charging case
- Two noise cancelling levels, Basic and Strong, and automatic limiting against clipping
- A transmitter can connect to DJI Osmo cameras without a receiver
- In stock on 9 October 2026, sold by a third-party seller (Hibikin-US), #1 in Professional Video Microphones, 10K+ bought and 25,393 ratings
Synced, DroneXL and two YouTube testers all put the Mic Mini next to the Lark M2. DroneXL (updated 25 August 2026) says price and onboard recording separate the two, and that the newer Mic Mini 2S added on-board recording, which closes the gap that used to favor the Lark M2 for backup. Ben Gleason and Jake Sloan both like it for DJI cameras. Product photo: a small DJI clip-on mic from JJ Rocha on Unsplash; the photographer does not name the model.
Which one to pick
The phone vlogger: the Lark M2, because it has USB-C and Lightning receivers in the box and 9 g transmitters. The one on a tight budget: the Lark M2, which Jake Sloan calls the cheapest of the three. The interviewer with paying clients: the Mic 2, for its 32-bit float backup and its 1/8 inch jack for a lavalier. The DJI Pocket or Action owner: the Mic 2 or the Mic Mini, for the direct link. Someone who wants one small clip and a DJI: the Mic Mini.

FAQ
Which is better, the Hollyland Lark M2 or the DJI Mic 2?
Testers hear little difference in sound. The Lark M2 is smaller, lighter and has the longer listed battery. The Mic 2 adds internal 32-bit float recording, a touchscreen receiver and Bluetooth. Synced calls the Lark M2 the better value.
Does the Hollyland Lark M2 record on its own?
Not on the page we read. Hollyland's page does not list onboard recording, and Synced says the Lark M2 has none. The DJI Mic 2 lists 32-bit float internal recording for 14 hours.
How far do the Lark M2 and the DJI Mic 2 reach?
Hollyland lists 300 m line of sight. DJI lists 250 m under FCC rules and 160 m under CE rules. A tester found that a body between transmitter and camera shortens the range far more than distance does.
Does the Lark M2 work with an iPhone?
Yes. Hollyland lists a Lightning receiver with an Apple MFi chip and a USB-C receiver for Android, iPhone 15 and later, action cameras and computers. The Combo kit includes both.
Is the DJI Mic 2 banned in the US?
The FCC's December 2025 update covers foreign-made drones and drone parts, and the FCC text does not name microphones. On 9 October 2026 amazon.com showed the Mic 2 new and in stock. This is not legal advice.
